This study aimed to determine preferences on marriage and childbearing of the Generation Z undergraduate students of CHE, UPLB. A total of 115 respondents accomplished the online survey. Results show that the respondents continue to desire marriage and children in the future. Their average marriage and childbearing ages are over 29 and 30 years old, respectively, though the average ideal number of children was less than two, substantially lower than the national averages for births per woman and age at first marriage. There were numerous factors that were found to influence their preferences such as their sociodemographic, individual, and sociodemographic characteristics. The results showed that these students preferred to marry over cohabitation and to have children, but at much a later age. Their desire to bear children averaged to only one to two, and the timing between marriage and their first birth was rather short. Their religion, sex, stable parental relationship, and high educational attainment (undergraduate degree) of their parents, and the nature of complex dating and relationships have been significantly found to be associated to their preferences. These suggest that these young students are still affected by the longstanding Filipino cultural traditions on religion, family, and dating, however, their changing views on nonmarital unions, pronatalism, and their evolving individual characteristics are substantial to note. The possible impact of globalization, and the presence of education and religion was discussed.
