Family has a lifelong influence on the identity formation of an individual. This present study aims to determine the family formation and parenting style practice intentions and its relationship to the perceived parenting style practice of Batch 2018 students from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. A total of 106 respondents accomplished the online questionnaire. Findings show that majority of the respondents (69.8%) perceived Authoritative parenting style while all (100%) of the respondents’ parenting style intention is Authoritative. Furthermore, almost half (44.3%) of the respondents have an intention to form a family, and marriage is the most preferred manner of family formation. However, other manner of family formation were found to be the intentions of other respondents. The intended age for family formation was in the age range 29-32 years old and two (2) children was the most preferred number of children. Hence, it was found that there is no significant relationship between the perceived parenting practice and the family formation intentions while the perceived parenting practice style and parenting practice style intentions have a significant relationship. Thus, it is recommended to do an extensive study and to utilize a tool that will further examine the relationship between the perceived parenting and family formation intention. Also, Policy program/s that promote positive parenting practice may be established to foster better relationship within the family as it is the primary environment for the lifelong learning of an individual.
