This study explored the COVID-19 pandemic responses of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) during the first six months of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically the University of the Philippines Los Banos. A case study descriptive research approach was used in the study. Results showed that UPLB’s COVID-19 response focused more on coping mechanisms and psychosocial support during the first six months of the pandemic. The pandemic responses of the university primarily fell under the Scholarship of application of Knowledge. In addition, partnership and collaboration was the driving factor that influenced the design and implementation of UPLB’s COVID-19 pandemic response. However, the limited institutional capacity serves as a hindering factor for its pandemic response delivery. Given this, the study reiterates the vital role of the Scholarship of Integration across the university’s pandemic responses from education, research to extension. Also, constructive alignment of these scholarships and functions will promote a more coherent and sustainable pandemic response and engagement frameworks of units like DSDS’ Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) framework.
