The increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has had a tremendous impact on society and almost every sector of the country. Hence, the office of the President issued Proclamation No. 992, which entails the declaration of a state of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines. This study aimed to assess the Local Government’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Municipality of Sta.Cruz, Province of Laguna, during the period of April 2020 to December 2021. Using a survey questionnaire, interview and relevant Municipal Epidemiologic and Surveillance Reports, the results showed that the top 3 elements in which the local government of Sta. Cruz expressed their highest strength and rating of affirmation were with respect to the areas of (1) Collaborative Networks (99%), Practice and Experience (96%), and Countermeasures and Mitigation Strategies (95%). All of which were considered as ‘Very prepared and Responsive’. Meanwhile, the areas that require further improvement and review are with respect to (1) Resources (62%), (2) Workforce Capacity (72.59%), and (3) Epidemiological and Laboratory functions (73.37%), all of which are considered as ‘Prepared and Responsive’.
